Flagship Program

Inner Engineering is Isha Foundation’s flagship program and I am indebted to them for bringing such a simple yet profound tool to our lives so easily. Somehow I don’t agree that its their flagship program. They initiate people into powerful Shambhavi Mahamudra kriya. It transformed me but you know what won my heart? Their work.

Humble Beginning

They started Isha Yoga Centre in 1992 with a handful of people at the foothills of Velliangiri Mountains in Coimbatore. It now houses thousands of full time volunteers, a clinic, rejuvenation center, meditation halls, bhiksha hall which feeds thousands of people, extensive flora and fauna and the eye catchy 112 ft. Adiyogi statue. It has Dhyanalinga and Linga Bhairavi temple. Something that has to be experienced first hand to believe. Words fail me if I start to describe my experience. I was bowled over with such exuberant energy.

They started small with a handful of people in one hut near the mountains. They worked with all their might and things started to change. Obviously, progress can be indigestible to some people who try to cash on people’s misery. Their work started pricking to those infected viruses so much that they were falsely accused of murder charges, kidnapping and other baseless crimes with no weightage or proof whatsoever. Work and Progress

They started working in children’s school, old age homes and started taking care of locals there. Soon their work grew, volunteers joined and in 28 years they built this best and safest place on earth. The growth and challenges were/are boundless. There are a little over 9 Million volunteers working for his vision of raising Human consciousness to the entire world (which is racing to 8 Billion people). Who wouldn’t want a fantastic and ecstatic life? When I was initiated I thought I will atleast help my family and friends but resistance to change is such a big threshold to cross, I dint know then. Its not as easy as we assume. Especially with urban and educated population who google to verify everything.

Numbers and impact

I cannot justify in words the herculean task they took up voluntarily but what a progress! Millions of lives touched. Feeding thousands of people everyday, educating, providing essentials, employment and best of all? Providing tools for self transformation. With a sane heart, body and mind they are building a progressive community and the world(eventually but surely).

The impact it created and number of lives transformed in raising Human Consciousness, rural education, community health and well being and environment are continued in part 2.
